I like to think I pay attention most of the time. 8am on a Sunday doesn’t seem to be one of those times.

Hauled myself out of bed by 7.30am. Set off down the motorway at a little after 8.05am. Got to the road connecting the M621 with the M1 (northbound), only to find it shut for reconstruction due to a landslip. Followed the diversion signs (I thought)… and ended up on Hunslet Road, heading back into Leeds city centre.

Quick call to the people at the coach to say I’d be 10 minutes late, then back onto the M621, follow the diversion, use my best guess (turn right at the Sea Cadets building, not left), follow the most pothole-ridden road in the area (they should have repaired this one before the other, methinks) and got back to the junction with the M1.

Five minutes later I was at Thorp Park, parked next to the (small) coach, grabbing bag, coat, scarf, etc… only to be told that the game was off, as there was thick snow in Boreham Wood.
